i (i) wrote,

so no hike today. evidently the kids decided to sleep in. i am, however, looking forward to hiking the trail later. there is an epic water project happening soon. this steep, winding, treacherous trail is also the only source of water for la guacamaya, and the pipe is severely aged and damaged, so 1000 men from the town are going to take turns carrying a new pipeline up the trail by hand. the plastic pieces weigh 200 pounds, the steel ones 400. it should be unbelievable. i am going to volunteer my muscles for a few days and then take photos for a couple.

there is a caged guacamaya - scarlet macaw - out in front of the hotel. i am trying to teach him to say "el bosque es mejor".
