my next camera will be the olympus version of this when it comes out. a pocket sized camera with all ther capabilities of my big dslr, and advantages! i can't wait. it will be so much easier to be unobtrusive.

Ooh, shiny!

Yeah, a pocket camera is always good to have, even if only a backup for the big one. We've been very happy with our Canon PowerShot. The only thing it lacks is focus control. If your has that, you're set.

when this comes out, it should be able to do everything my DSLR does, including changing lenses, and i will be able to carry it in one pocket and my telephoto lens in the other. it will cost as much as an entry level DSLR, but i don't mind.

I skimmed through the article, and it all sounds good, but isn't that how non-SLR digital cameras work? I have a reasonable compact camera, and the pics are reasonable. If I could focus the stupid thing manually and change the lens, what would I be missing?

the whole point is that, other than the viewfinder, it functions exactly as a DSLR. considerably better than your point and shoot camera.
