the republican senators are begging and pleading behind closed doors right now, so i might have jumped the gun, but all reports indicate that he will become an independant tomorrow morning. as for the people who voted for him, he just got elected, so he has a long time to make amends and vermont is a very liberal state. i don't think he runs any risks, unless he appears to have been bought off by either party. since the democrats have been much more low key, i would say his best bet is to go through with it.
