It's pretty standard. It reads like most other sites' ToS, including Dreamwidth's. I didn't see anything that said they own our content, but I did see something that said they're allowed to repost our original content for promotional purposes.

There is some noise being made about the prohibition of advertising or political solicitation.

Hm. Hadn't heard that part.

So no campaign ads? No political recruiting? What does that mean? And will they bother doing anything about it to non-Russian users?

I haven't seen that specifically. I saw something about sexual deviance but that could be pedophilia or rape. If I see exact official wording about anti-LBGTQ, then I'll start thinking about it.

There's a good article with comments from a lawyer who ... I'm-a find it.

https://globalvoices.org/2017/04/04/after-moving-servers-to-russia-livejournal-bans-political-solicitation/

I think the anti-lgbt stuff is a general feeling from some LJers regarding Russia overall. Which, to my mind, means they should have jumped ship years ago. But, whatever. I support lgbt rights, but I'm staying with LJ for the time being. These things tend to die down, and if this is an exception, I'll post to DW exclusively. (I DO want to back up my LJ journal, but it's depressing because it's just text. Blech.)

PPS: I just saw this site referenced on FB-- it costs 30 dollars to save more than one year of a journal, but it saves pics and comments and everything. I think it may be worth the small investment.
