2 1/2 days left

as promised, i'm going to repeat this every day until the auctions end :)

i am unable to give much money directly to the victims of the tsunami, so please help me give more by bidding on my auctions. i will pay for shipping, and all proceeds go to the international medical corps, who already work in the region providing disaster relief and medical training. over 90% of their funds go to actual services.

no bids yesterday :(

chicken soup

half eaten rotisserie chicken from frys
half a bunch of celery chopped
4 carrots chopped
1 small red onion sliced
thumb sized piece of ginger peeled and chopped finely
1 jalapeno chopped finely
1/3 cup rice
2 T pepper (to taste)
2 T salt (to taste)
2 T garlic powder (to taste)
2 red potatoes chunked

i'm not sure what size pot im using. i think it is 6 quarts. it's the biggest one i have, anyway.

put everything in the pot, fill most of the way with water and cook very slowly. after it has reduced about 25%, take the chicken carcass out and strip the meat off (messy but fun). put the meat back in and serve/store/freeze.

today, democrats proposed two changes to the house rules:

1 - a rule preventing members from negotiating lobbying jobs while still in office.

2 - a rule guaranteeing that members would have at least three days to read any bill presented for a vote.

republicans voted down both changes.

gee, think they might be planning to slip some nasty riders past the democrats on bills presented for a vote on a friday afternoon? and do you suppose that some of those nasty riders might benefit corporations they are going to go to work for when they step down?

nahhh, this is the party of morals.
