in light of the recent Navy decision to deploy an ultra-loud sonar which is deadly to marine mammals, closely followed by two days of successive beachings by pilot whales in Massachussetts. this song is on my mind.

don't kill the Whale
Yes from the album Tormato

You're first I'm last
You're thirst I'm asked to justify
Killing our last heaven beast
Don't hunt the whale

In beauty Vision
Do we Offer much
If we reason with destiny, gonna lose our touch
Don't kill the whale

Rejoice They sing
They worship their own space
In a moment of love, they will die for their grace
Don't kill the whale

If time will allow
We will judge all who came
In the wake of our new age to stand for the frail
Don't kill the whale

Yeha, well. It's just fish and stuff. They're not all endangered species anyway. This is our safety at stake! You never know when those damn arabs will get their hands on a nuclear sub. Or the Chinese. We're on the brink of pissing them off enough they'll declare war. We have to be ready.

That's electriccat. She's really cool. If you comment, she's more likely to befriend back. The link is to a post about the beached whales in which she mentioned that Yes song.

so so sad. i was part of a human chain when i was about 12 on a beach right near where the whales beached. we pulled several people in from a rip tide. i wish i could have been there today and yesterday.

I've been watching the news occasionally today and it just makes me ill. I can appreciate national security, but this just seems too high a price to pay....the long term consequences of disrupting the ecosystem of the oceans could very well be the end of us. I am more worried about that than being attacked by China or another terrorist attack of such a grand scale.

I love that you posted that. Tormato was a guilty pleasure for many a year.

Thanks for allowing me to remember it again, especially withing this urgent new context.
