"Since Sept. 11, there's more of a willingness to just shut doors, to close borders and boundaries, to become more racist and dismissive of other people," he says.

"We're supposedly about to go into battle with Saddam Hussein, in part because he killed a lot of his own people. Well, the U.S. and to some extent the U.K. were supporting him while he was doing that, so it's a bit rich for us to use that as an excuse to go after him.

"Yes, there is potential danger with weapons of mass destruction, but it's also dangerous for the U.S. and U.K. to go in there like cowboys. We've got to start making the U.N. a functioning body that has teeth, that can act quickly and effectively."
