That is a healthy looking sky! looks like the fires have settled down.
I wonder, what is that piece of equipment in the 4th from the end photo?

I would have thought the same thing a few years ago, but now that I've dived into the belly of Arizona, I can say otherwise. In the Midwest, lots of clouds usually mean a healthy, good sky. In Arizona, it's another affair.

Arizona skies have few clouds, which is why people have to be careful of the UV exposure there. During the day, the sun feels relentless because there are few clouds to buffer the rays. A sky with that many clouds is probably comprised of mostly smoke. From what my friends in Tucson say, the fire still goes.

I hope it is extinguished soon. I cannot bear to think of Mount Lemmon after this, when I'd found it so happily with Dave in 2002.

Also, I received your post card and it was one of the single most magical, wonderful things ever. Thank you.

Thanks for letting me know you got the card.

I was mostly impressed by the delicate hue of the blue, which looked a lot better than the reddish grey sky of the previous posts.

I hope you all get some rain there soon.

actually, the fire was in remission yesterday. these clouds are the beginning of the monsoons, and are indeed healthy. rain made it into the far souttheatern corner of the state yesterday, and should be here in the next few days. i'll be dancing in it.
