Better yet:

the handoff in iraq goes smoothly, violence dies down, iraq moves towards democracy, kerry gets re-elected.

I don't think this is far-fetched.

Too simplistic. The election won't swing on events in Iraq alone. The first scenario could happen and Bush could not get elected. The second could happen and Kerry could not get elected. It all depends on how Kerry handles the GOP attack and defines himself in the eyes of the middle. It's his election to win or lose.

I think he's trying to force us to choose between those two scenarios, regardless of whether others are realistic.

Hmm... interesting choice. What would be worse?

Would one want things to go well in Iraq, if it meant that Bush would get reelected as a result?"

Are we all wanting bush to fail so badly that we would rather suffering continue there? Or would his success lead to the pursuit of other countries thus even more suffering?

Good question! IMO... These are people we're talking about, it is bad enough that the Bush Ad. is using them as political pawns, if their success meant that we would have to deal with Bush for another term (which I don't necessarily think it does) than so be it. I choose outcome #1

I think this year's election will reveal a record-breaking turn out of newly registered voters. People are getting more involved and aware... waking up. At least!

The first choice, only WITHOUT Bush being re-elected.

I just broke my rule about never again posting anything political ;)

in my crystal ball it looks like somethng
between those two things as to Iraq, and
if so too early to tell on the election.

I chose the latter, because the former is pure fantasy.

the departure of tenet is gonna make it really easy for bush to come out smelling like a rose. i hope like fuck tenet writes his confessional & gives it to a lawyer a la "if anything should happen to me, send copies of this to everybody". i'm even hearing some lefties thinking tenet's resignation is all cool & shit. fucking fools.

I dunno if I can vote because neither seem to suggest that Osama Bin Laden is captured.

Really, all I care about is Osama Bin Laden.

The transition could go as smooth as pie. But they're gonna keep killing each other. Its unrealistic to think violence will die down anytime in the next couple years.

I'm gonna have to vote for Kerry (gets elected) though. My priority is the US and my own country. I didn't want Iraq, I protested against it, I wrote everyone to be against it... I think its still going to get worse before it gets better. And before ANYthing gets better, Osama Bin Laden must be brought to justice along with all his senior staff.

I'd like to see violence minimised and the greater good for all, even if it means re-electing bush. (we can always remove him from office if he gets too uppity)

Kerry isn't much of a replacement, to my eyes. I've seen a lot of stances that show him voting with Lieberman, Santorum And Ashcroft.

Fortunately, if he gets uppity, I'd like to think we could pull him out of office too.

i'm pretty sure if bush gets reelected, he will be impeached in short order.

this is a good bush vs kerry comparison:
