took a canopy tour today, which consisted of a 1 1/2 hour bus ride through a national park, followed by another 1 1/2 hours on a boat down the rio sueno, or dirty river, watching crocodiles on the banks and iguanas and howler monkeys in the trees. a couple of tiger herons too. then we climbed into the trees and zipped down cables suspended from harnesses. loads of fun. i was paired up with a woman from trinidad-tobago who lives in brooklyn, her son and nephew, along with two guides and one of their novias. the one guide was fluent in english, which was nice. my lack of spanish skills is frustrating. anyway, it's dinner time. tomorrow, i'm going to stay in san jose and visit museums, then the next two days, an overnight to tortuguero to see sea turtles, among other wonders.
