a friend was by today and told me that whenever he emails me, he gets a bunch of spam. that initially sounds like i have some sort of virus or bot in my computer. i have a firewall, spyware, and virus software that i update religiously. i also visit panda active scan regularly. any ideas as to what might be causing this? or do you think he was just coincidentally emailing me the same night that he was surfing porn sites? one odd clue is that he says the spam stops coming after a while. i don't understand that. if someone gets your address, why don't they keep using it and sell it to 100 other spammers too? i get a ton of spam myself, and i've never seen the quantity do anything but rise.
