i finished "skinny legs and all" last week, and bought a paperback in the airport to read on the way home. one of the "op-center" novels. spy stuff, created by tom clancy, and now continued by other authors. as some of you probably know, these books are generally gung-ho about the military, and fairly right wing. this one was no exception, which is why i was amazed to find this sentence on page 381: "I don't think a government official should be allowed to justify the lies he told and the murders he authorized to send his nation into a reckless and lawless war." in context, the author was talking about a chinese general, but the phrasing simply couldn't be coincidental.
