sitting at epic this morning, i noticed the lonely planet guide to vietnam sitting on the table next to me. struck up a conversation with the woman who sat down next to it. turns out she was in vietnam for a month, overlapping my three weeks by about half. talking to her, i realized how much i missed out on, both by deliberate avoidance (all war history), and by ignorance (i spent too much time in cities and not enough in the country. i realize that i didn't have enough time to do it all, i just envy her the choices she made. i think her experience was much richer than mine. if you're interested in a different perspective, her blog is here.
